Innovating for Sustainability

In 2022, upcoming UK legislation mandated that businesses generating over 5kg of weekly food waste must comply with new refuse segregation regulations. Andy King, a seasoned entrepreneur renowned for building successful hardware companies, aimed to create a frictionless compliance process in line with the UK's goal to halve food waste by 2030. To meet this challenge, Andy founded Limetrack Ltd with a goal to develop a SMART technology solution designed to simplify food waste auditing and logging, ensuring both compliance and a reduced environmental impact.

Over the past two years, JNDC has played a crucial role in supporting Limetrack's development of a minimum viable product (MVP). We oversaw the entire hardware development process, addressing skill gaps by leveraging our trusted network for PCB design and specialist patent attorneys. We also manufactured two advanced prototypes for detailed early-stage testing with end users, which subsequently attracted increased investment.

Building on this success, Limetrack commissioned JNDC to scale production to a pilot run of 250 units. The team at JNDC modified the prototype design into a viable production design, ensuring all elements of the design were market-ready. The initial batch have been delivered to prominent organisations, including the NHS, government agencies, and major brands.

The positive reception of Limetrack's innovation marks a significant milestone. JNDC is proud to have contributed to this achievement, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals to reduce food waste and CO2 emissions. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Limetrack as they make a tangible impact on sustainability.
