Complex to Simple

Enhancing Ecoegg’s Performance

Growing up with eczema, Ecoegg’s founder realised how sensitive skin can be to normal detergents, which led to the creation of the Ecoegg ™  Laundry Egg. The dryer egg product reduces tumble dryer time by up to 28%, enhances the softness and fragrance of clothes, and is hypoallergenic. However, its production involved a complicated and costly assembly process, and there was a need to improve the product performance while simplifying the assembly process.

Ecoegg ™  approached JNDC to develop a redesign that retained the original look and feel and worked with existing fragrance sticks. We took the existing design, which required complex tooling processes, and transformed the 5-part design into a single-part solution. This redesign made the product more robust, practical, and efficient. By designing it as a single part, we eliminated all assembly costs, allowing more investment into improving the overall product user experience.

Our new, cost-effective assembly process quickly provided Ecoegg ™  with a rapid return on their investment. The savings from the simplified design and elimination of assembly costs paid off the costs of redesign and new tooling in a short period. This efficient approach allowed Ecoegg to redirect funds towards enhancing product quality and expanding their market reach. The redesigned product is now available in outlets including Lakeland, Robert Dyas, and UK High Street supermarkets. The improved design has simplified production, boosted performance, and reinforced Ecoegg's ™ commitment to eco-friendly solutions.
